We meet on the 3rd Monday in the month at 7:30pm at Holbrook Moor Methodist Church, Moorside Lane, Holbrook DE56 0TW. (Just opposite the Village Store). From September to April we enjoy talks on various gardening and other horticultural subjects by visiting speakers. Then during the summer May - August we get out and about to visit other gardens.
There is no membership fee, just a small charge on the evening.
All are welcome
During the warmer months we go and visit other gardens - details will be announced later
Monday January 20th Danny Wells "The English and Gardening"
We Brits are obsessed with our little plots and getting the most out of them. Danny will give us the background to this unique hobby.
Monday February 17th "Hedge Laying"
A full length DVD with a forward from HRH The Prince of Wales.
All our hedges need attention and if properly looked after will give years of pleasure. Learn about the different styles.
Monday March 16th Colin Shaw "No Dig Gardening"
For years we have toiled, digging our beds over to rotavate the soil. Modern day thinking is that there is no need to do that. Colin will take us through something that can save strain on our backs and still get the same results.
Monday April 20th Don Witton "Living With a National Plant Collection"
A warm welcome back to our great friend who holds the National Collection of Euphorbias. The collection currently consists of 124 different species and cultivars. It is contained in 13 island beds mixed with other hardy herbaceous perennials. Beds are surrounded by paths and are mainly in full sun. Some plants are also displayed in pots and containers. Individual Euphorbia plants are labelled, whilst all plants are labelled on sketch maps which are available when viewing.
Our Facebook page is updated regularly as well as the web site.
